Phase II Fall Break → mid January
Individual correction for procedural mistakes (the group should be able to do a set on their own)
Review technical decision making: (streamline, no breathing first stroke, flip turns every wall)
Descend warmup intervals, maintain technique expectations
Technical nuance (1-2 elements per stroke per week)
Fast kicking (30% of every practice, ~2:1 work/rest)
Simple or familiar structure for most swim sets - raise expectations of technique from phase I
Group correction (start over) for technical mistakes
Kick sets are the most challenging part of practice - even on non kick sets
Dive + glides (wait until phase 2 when kids have recognized how bad they are at starts lol)
Progress toward a set “if they can do X in practice, there’s no WAY they can’t do Y in the meet”
